Sunday Private Painting Lessons

My Sunday includes two private acrylic painting lessons for the “O” boys at their house. These two grandsons have been painting with me a few times already. This was their request for a Christmas present this year. However, they had to wait to receive lessons until now because they were both really sick during the holidays.

The painting subjects are still life objects of their choice as a starting point and using their imagination to get the feeling they wish to express. Believe it or not, children have no trouble with personal interpretation and expression in their paintings 😉

For these boys, painting is lots of fun and also serious work. Sort of like driving a car or flying a plane or doing a science experiment. Painting is something that is important and valued. I remember feeling this way as a child but I always felt a little odd as it was unusual for any of my peers to share the same intrigue and reverence.

We didn’t just paint but also went through set up and clean up, with particular attention to care of the paint brushes. If one is going to be a painter, it is never too early to learn how to take care of your tools! 🙂
