Interview with Nicole Holt

Nicole Holt, thanks for taking this interview.  Bio: Nicole grew up in Germany and discovered her love of acting at the age of 12 through participating in theatre plays in school. After school her life got busy with jobs, friends, college, getting married, starting a family, and moving to Texas. This is when her path let her back to acting. After rediscovering her passion for acting in 2004, she's been in numerous films, working her way from Extra roles to speaking roles. Some of her favorite credits include "Hate Crime" with Bruce Davidson, and the ABC Pilot "Final Witness". Over the last year she's filmed among others the web series "Bail Out" and "Allegiance of Powers" as well as the features "Blood Reunion", "Blood Reunion 2", "Prey for me", "Jebadiah's Axe", and "The Ouija Experiment 2". In her most recent festival-bound project "Mother's Day" she worked with Reginald C. Hayes and Shanna Forrestall. She is slated to act in several short films and feature length films through the rest of the year and a few projects already in pre-production for 2021 & 2022. Nicole Holt Most of my readers will not know you. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1944318/ Can you please tell the story of how you got into acting and where you are currently at?

Answer: I stumbled into film acting by accident. I hadn't acted since the theater days back in school and in 2004, when my daughter expressed interest in acting, I thought for sure I was too old to even try getting back into acting. When I looked for acting gigs for my daughter, I came across a lot of calls for adults to be Extras in local productions from short films over series to feature films. The very next weekend I was an Extra on a student production and that got the ball rolling. I worked my way up through many Extra roles, taking a few classes, reading a lot of info online, to having my first auditions, and finally having supporting and leading roles in many productions. On IMDb I have currently 104 projects listed, but I've been in so many other productions that haven't been listed, that I think I'm closer to 150 projects. I am currently attached to several projects that are in various stages of pre-production and Covid-related delays that will hopefully start picking up soon.

Ms. Holt, can you tell us that one story you wish everyone knew about yourself? You know the one that if you had to introduce yourself to people that story?

Answer: That's actually a hard question. I'm usually pretty private when it comes to..well, my private life. My husband and children expressed their desire not to be 'exposed' online, so I respect their wishes and don't even bring up my family, other than to close friends. I think one interesting thing about me (other than acting) is the fact that I am a crafter and would like to even be a homesteader. I love creating things and being able to do things for myself. I used to love watching Little House in the Prairie and grew up wishing I had a little place with my own chickens and a huge vegetable garden. Over the years of course raising a family and working was the priority, but now that I'm getting older, the wish to be out in the country and self-sufficient is getting stronger again.

Ms. Holt, you are filming on set. Can you talk about what you are doing and share any trailors or teasers for my readers?

Answer: I wrapped a short film a little while ago, but am currently in the auditioning process for the role of a witch in a horror/suspense film. That's right up my alley ☺ Since I don't have any footage for those 2 projects, I'll attach one for one of my favorite projects: "Azteq vs the Prowler"

Ms. Holt, you are a writer, producer, actress, etc.  What part of the business do you like the most?

Answer: Without a doubt, I prefer acting. I love being able to 'be somebody else' and completely dive into a character. It gives me a certain feeling of freedom to be a completely different character than who I am as a person. I have played everything from a nurturing mother/teacher/nurse/aunt to a killer/monster/villain. It's fun to play dress-up all the way down to your behavior.

Ms. Holt, what genre of movies are you into or would you say you want to be a part of? What scripts or movies do you have a desire to read or produce or perform in?

Answer: My favorite genres are Horror, Suspense, Sci-Fi, Action, and Comedy. I like to entertain and be entertained. I have also played in Dramas, but I feel like there is so much drama in our lives already that I would rather be funny, or go completely off the rails with a thriller or horror film. I have not done a Western or Steampunk movie yet – now THAT is definitely on my bucket list ☺ Feel free to send scripts my way! I'll definitely take a look!

Ms. Holt, during this time of lockdown these interviews are to help people find new books, movies, etc to look into. What has been your entertainment or what books/movies would you suggest

Answer: I have taken to binge-watching on Netflix and Hulu quite a bit. I've devoured all seasons of "Supernatural", "Lucifer", "Handsmaid Tale", and most recently started with "Manifest". Manifest is a very interesting concept and without giving anything away for people who may want to look into that show: It's interesting to see how life changes or moves on without you, when life paths change. I hear that the 3rd season just showed up on Netflix, so you know what I'll be watching this weekend.

As for books, I've been on a self-help and self-improvement trip and I have ordered (not read yet…) books that have to do with living off the grid, homesteading, natural healing, etc.

Ms. Holt, please tell my reader about each of your movies and provide links to the movies you are in.

Answer: I've been in way too many movies to list them all, and since a lot of those movies are also independent films, it is hard to get a copy of them, or find them online.

The easiest way would be to check out my list on imdb: www.imdb.me/nicoleholt

One of the bigger films that I know for a fact is somewhere out there (I played the ghost/killer):

One of my favorite episodicals I made (I played the Supervillain Crypt):

  • Allegiance of Powers: Available on Youtube. Here is the trailer to one of the episodes I'm in:

Ms. Holt, the classic question: what charity do you support? Can you provide a link to it and explain your reason for supporting that charity?

Answer: My favorite charity is "Humane Tomorrow" humanetomorrow.org. Donation link: https://checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/httx I support them, because I know some of their members and volunteers in person and of course I have a big heart for animal rescue. I'd rather support a local charity, where I know where exactly the money is going, instead of a big charity that has a lot of overhead, using up a good portion of the money donated.

Ms. Holt, what is your dream project? With whom do you want to work with or if you start to direct what genre of work or film project would your future projects be or what type of movies?

Answer: I definitely would still love to be in a Western and/or Steampunk movie. I haven't done those yet. I also would absolutely love to work with Johnny Depp. He doesn't just play a character, he turns into the character. I believe it would be an amazing experience to work with him.

Ms. Holt, what question do you wish I had asked? And what is the answer to that question?

Answer: A question I have been asked from someone who's not in the movie business: "When are you giving up?" My answer to that was: What do you mean give up? Do I have a timeline? A date by which I stop acting, if I am not famous yet? Acting is something I love to do, not something that is tied to a make or break financial decision. It's like asking someone who likes fishing, if he'll stop fishing, if he doesn't get that one priced catch. Or someone who knits, if she'll stop knitting, if she doesn't win a price or ribbon somewhere. Long story short: I will stop acting when I can't physically do it anymore. Until then I'll just keep clowning around ☺
