For quite some time, a patent keeps getting a lot of attention because it involves a "Covid-19" test and the name "Richard A. Rothschild".
https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/patent/US-2020279585-A1
What really got people interested in this patent is the fact that it mentions "Covid-19", but lists as priority date November 13, 2015.
That does sound extremely suspicious - how could a patent from 2015 know about an illness under the name of "Covid-19", right?
The actual filing date for the Covid-19 testing method is 17 May 2020. So how can the priority date be 2015? Simple: it's a legal date that is based on related patents that refer to the same invention!
Patent Filing Date vs Priority Date: Basic difference
Richard A Rothschild was clearly working on this kind of technology for a long time and the system is intended to detect multiple types of viruses. Therefore, he could list a priority date in 2015 based on other, related patents, although he only filed this particular patent related to Covid-19 in 2020.
So there's nothing nefarious about this priority date. It would be suspicious if the patent had been filed under the name Covid-19 in 2015, but that's clearly not the case.
The fact that the patent was filed by someone whose family name is Rothschild immediately got people to think that this just had to be some nefarious scheme by the Rothschild banker clan.
Just a reminder: just because someone's family name is "Rothschild", that person is not necessarily a member of the (in-)famous Rothschild banker's clan. It's really surprising that this has to be pointed out. Rothschild is actually fairly common name.
Here is a summary of the remaining relevant and really wealthy and influential hairs of the banker clan:
Meet The Remaining Heirs Of The Legendary Rothschild Dynasty
Here is one member of the family who was practically a neighbor (lived just 2km from my home) who died last year at the tender age of 57:
Billionaire Benjamin De Rothschild, Heir To Storied Banking Fortune, Dies At 57
Taking good care of his cardiac health was apparently not one of his major preoccupations. When your estimated wealth is $1.5 billion, I guess a health checkup is too expensive or too annoying.
Here are a bunch of Richard Rothschilds who do not seem to be affiliated with the banker family clan,, either, including another Richard A. Rothschild, a lawyer who has nothing to do with the UK biologist who deposited the patents; he's apparently a top notch lawyer from California:
There's a Richard Rothschild who is Lead Scientist of the High Energy Astrophysics group in CASS:
http://www.cass.ucsd.edu/index.php/faculty:Rrothschild
Then there's a Richard Luke Rothschild who is in the movie industry:
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0745304/
And then, there's this Richard A. Rothschild who deposited a whole string of patents, including the Covid-19 testing method:
https://patents.justia.com/inventor/richard-a-rothschild
The one thing they all seem to have in common is a very high IQ. They probably do share common ancestors, but in the very distant past.
It's actually funny that people who assume that the Rothschild clan is behind everything nefarious also assume that they would be so dumb as to put their family name on a document that might implicate them in a Covid conspiracy. For starters, why would an ultra-rich banker clan heir work in research and file patents?
So the Rothschild connection is a non-starter.
It's barely worth mentioning, but the usual "Fact-checkers" picked up the claims about this patent and in this case, Reuters accurately pointed out the difference between filing date and priority date:
Fact check: Rothschild did not patent a test for COVID-19 in 2015 and 2017
But while they mention the name "Rothschild" in the title, they do not address the issue with the name at all. They actually don't provide any information about Richard A Rothschild. One would assume that they would shoot down that part of the conspiracy theory right away.
There is a web site that provides information about international trade statistics. It lists products based on type and end use:
https://wits.worldbank.org/trade/country-byhs6product.aspx?lang=en
Interestingly, it provides "Medical Products related to Covid-19" as standard option right away. It's apparently the most searched-for product category:
When you click that link, then this is what you get:
https://wits.worldbank.org/trade/covid-19-medical-products.aspx
As you can see in the title, these are "Products related to Covid-19". So click the first link, the medical test kits 300215 and you get the following page:
Wait ... "Medical Test kits (300215) exports by country in 2019"? Why did they have a gigantic volume of Covid-19-related test kits in 2019? 🤔
The subtitle says that these devices are now classified as "critical to tackling Covid-19", i.e. apparently had other uses before.
Even if these were test kits were previously unrelated to Covid-19, why did everyone stock up on random medical test kits for billions of dollars in 2019?
There's a conspiracy web site that claims to have an earlier screen copy that shows Covid-19 test kits that were exported in 2017. They claim that they later changed "Covid-19 Test Kits" to "Medical Test Kits". I have absolutely no way of knowing whether this is an actual screen copy or if it has been manipulated. The first step would be to test whether the the current data for 2017 shows the indicated volumes for "medical test kits" for the countries shown in the alleged screen grab.
There is obviously an explanation: they might have changed the product reference table, replacing "Medical Test kit" with "COVID-19 Test kits" by mistake, not realizing that it would affect the old lists as well.
But even if this particular screen grab is fake or based on such a database error, why did so many countries buy huge quanitites of non-specific "Medical Test kits" in 2019? What did they expect to need them for?
This is another rabbit hole that is seriously disturbing and that seems to indicate that various governments and / or government agencies had knowledge about the incoming pandemic in 2019.
It would be useful if someone with full access to this trading information platform could investigate the trade volume for medical testing kits before 2019 to see if this is a normal volume or if there was a spike that started in 2019.
Most of the time, such apparent anomalies can be cleared up with more information. The real problem is that we now know that:
Taking all of the above into account, it is not impossible that there was a lot of foreknowledge about the Wuhan virus among high ranking politicians and they might have organized the reaction to the Covid-19 outbreak well in advance.
They might not have thought of or might not have bothered to cover up all their tracks, such as this trading database.
Can we do much with this information? Probably not. But it adds an interesting piece to the puzzle.
I should have added the list of other patents by Richard A. Rothschild; this guy has been really busy and the nature of his patents is pretty obvious: he's not just into biometric data, but also into advertisement and manipulation 🤔
