Countering a sexist and racist comment by a feminist
All social media are packed with absurd claims, but this comment goes where even most feminists won’t tread:
In response to a meme mentioning Martha Stewart going to prison for insider trading (which is incorrect - she went to prison for "lying to the FBI"), someone whose profile shows an elderly woman posted "but Martha is a woman, so of course she's gonna pay the price ... and the rich old white guys won't":
This is a complete lie:
- women are hardly ever condemned to prison sentences
- about 94% of the prison population are men
- women get much lighter sentences for exactly the same crimes, systematically
That’s not my “opinion”, that’s fact!

- the immense majority of prison sentences are inflicted for violent crimes
- as old white men hardly ever commit violent crimes, it’s logical that they do not go to prison very often
- young black men are in prison in large numbers because they commit the highest number of violent crimes, so should they NOT go to prison “because they are black”?
