Rigged Elections 101 - Bulgaria

Bulgaria might not be the first country you think of when trying to unravel the murky world of international election rigging, and I've found no evidence yet, or even accusations, of any voting irregularities that might have occurred in this 2014 election, but any election that involves Smartmatic EVM equipment requires closer scrutiny in my eyes.

This particular one was to select Bulgaria's MEPs for the EU Parliament, and in this Smartmatic promotional (or propaganda?) video, we are told how easy and secure it is, that this new type of voting offered to young people is really much better, and that it has to be introduced in the next election, because many young people would be interested. It ends by praising Bulgaria as a 'digital democracy pioneer who's example others within the European Union will want to follow.'

Now, if you're not familiar with Smartmatic you might think that there's not too much wrong with any of this so far, and to be fair it may well be the case, but political analyst Alek Boyd, after much research concluded that:-

'Smartmatic is yet to run one electoral process, anywhere in the world, in which fraud allegations and irregularities have not been made. From Venezuela to the Philippines, from the USA to Mexico, every single contract awarded to Smartmatic has been marred with allegations of bribes, and corruption'

But, this may be only the beginning as far as the EU is concerned...

Last November, a document entitled 'Reliable allies in the European Parliament (2014–2019)', detailing 251 MEPS described as reliable allies of George Soros was leaked or released, I'm not sure which, this list can be viewed in it's entirety here.

Now, there are 17 Bulgarian MEPs in total, which can all be seen on the EU website, 7 of them are on this list...

If you read the background info on these people (you'll need to zoom in), you'll find they are all very strong on human rights, muslim/minority rights, migration etc...all the things Soros spends a lot of money 'promoting'. Of course all of this may be coincidental, I have no evidence to suggest otherwise, but it does raise 2 questions for me:-

1). How many EU member states actually did use Smartmatic to elect their MEPs in 2014? I know Belgium did for one..I may look at that one soon.

2). How many will be using Smartmatic in next years EU parliament elections?
