Common Name: Shay
Memory Length: 100 years
Danger Rating: Extremely High
V-D022 is impossible to describe physically, due to its ability. Usually humanoid, but not necessarily so. Has been confirmed as taking the form of a seventy eight year old man, a three year old girl, and a medium to large size shadow hound.
V-D022 perfectly copies the exact form, memories, personality, and abilities of any living thing that is no longer alive. This copying has been recorded as happening minutes after death, or years. V-D022 shows no difficulty in infiltrating any social circles that the original would be able to, and in fact seems far more capable at accomplishing such infiltration than the original in many cases.
V-D022’s purpose for copying the dead is largely unknown, and it moves in ways that have no predictable pattern. The few sightings that have been confirmed were only done so because a person was confirmed as dead, yet also confirmed as alive elsewhere after the time of death. Some of these have been undoubtedly false alarms, but several have high degrees of credibility with both third party accounts and physical evidence.
V-D022 was first discovered during the [REDACTED] incident, and hence was assigned the rare Extremely High danger rating, despite being generally amicable during the incident. There are no known ways to prevent V-D022 from stepping into a dead person’s life, no known methods of detection other than verifying the copied person is deceased, and no known limits to what V-D022 can copy except that it must be deceased.
On the rare instance V-D022 is encountered, immediate neutralization by any means necessary, barring actions that would lead to catastrophic loss of Human life, is recommended. The number of unknowns are too great to safely interact with.
