Gamers - Xmas Call to Arms

It’s Christmasssssssssssssssssss!

Christmas is around the corner, and for us gamers it can be the best time of the year! Presents, decorations, food and time to indulge in some serious gaming action. Most of us will be hitting that new game we have been waiting for, and in some cases will have the warm glow of family and friends to help keep us happy over the season of fun.

However, there will be a sub-set of gamers who don’t have that, who will dread Christmas and the season. Who will sit home alone, due to circumstances like tragedy, disconnection, or depression. Their only release to escape the reality which weighs upon them, is the games they play, and if online, the people they meet playing them.

I myself have had a bout of miserable Christmas seasons and have sought comfort in my games, and it’s because of this I am asking for a ‘’call to arms’’ if I may be so bold. This year, I ask all gamers from all walks of gaming life to do one thing, a little but important thing.

Send every gamer you meet or know from now till the new year just one message ‘’Merry Xmas’’, even to the ones you hate or have annoyed you.

Now I know that we all can get into heated discussions, and say or do unkind things in the moment, when playing. But these actions can have a major impact on those already struggling, so this year, let’s try and show off the best side of gamers. Reach out to your fellow player with a simple message regardless, as that all it takes to boost those in need.

None of us know what burdens the other is facing in this time of festive fun, so a little thing like a Christmas message can bring a feeling of hope to all. Regardless of your political, religious or ideological preferences, this year support your fellow gamer regardless and bring more joy to the gaming world.
