LEAVING EGYPT
Free at last, free at last,
no more feeling the whip or lash.
No more toil in the blazing sun.
We rest at peace when the day is done.
Freedom’s taste lingers sweet.
We sing with thanks to our drumming feet.
The joy we share as we march along
is the heart and soul of freedom’s song.
We’ve left that harsh and lawless land
to trek across the desert sand.
Together we will learn anew
to worship Him in all that’s true.
Free to choose to follow Him
or led astray by our own whim.
We’ve laboured without sabbath rest
but now He puts us to the test.
Slaves no more, now we’re free
to choose love, law, and liberty.
Faith must guide us to obey
laws written in our hearts each day.
