Life tends to be a hard teacher, because we often act first then suffer the consequences later, especially in our naive youth when we lack the experience. But we certainly do learn by a certain age.
What has life taught you that governs your own existence at the moment (up to THREE main things)? We would have learnt a lot by middle age so try to mention only the most important things you've learned.
Of course, being much older, I have had many years to learn a lot, but the main things which stand out in my life are two:
First, that happiness comes not from possessions but from FORGIVING myself and others and concentrating on the people we value more than ourselves.
Second, that when I judge someone else, I am putting myself above them, while ignoring my own faults and weaknesses. This keeps me in the same retarded state forever, because I cease to learn and appreciate others. In turn, this makes it difficult for them to also value and appreciate me.
Finally, everything is temporary, because nothing lasts forever. Thus I try not to fret or worry about what's happening now, because it's likely tha,t by this time next year, it would have resolved itself, and I would have forgotten all about it.
