The ability of human beings to develop perspectives of the world is a fascinating thing to me. Especially how individuals value particular virtues more than others in their lives. The variety of experiences seem to directly influence an individual's view on life which might be why there is a disagreement, but a collective want to adhere the unbridled truth rather than an opinion that is upheld by most because of "common sense". This has led me to think that as the experiences make the individual that also means they represent a piece of the truth but not the truth entirely.
When an individual experiences something that is either good or bad, the growth or regression from such an experience allows them to see what they think is the truth of the world. From this, I believe it is possible that an individual develops a sense of truth from what they are deprived of from their bad experiences and their sense of right and wrong from what they are rewarded for. For example, say when a man or woman loves their significant other but, unfortunately, they find their lover in bed with someone else thus making the former trust between the two become rattled. The lover who did not cheat will then value loyalty more than they had before. This is what I mean when I say individuals value what they are deprived of and, by experiencing this, they develop a sense of truth but not the entire truth. In doing this, they develop a virtue by valuing what they were deprived of. An individual values what they were deprived of and, therefore, develop a truth that creates a perspective of what the world is like but what it is entirely. So what does that have to do with an individual's soul?
The soul, or what current religions believe it is, is the part of a human being that connects them with the divine, is immortal, and is the representation of how beautiful human beings can be if it, the soul, is cultivated. However, I think it is an entity that composed to represent a certain aspect of life that is necessary to the health of the human race. One person may represent diligence, another may be a representation of chastity, and so on. Each individual represents a piece of humanity along with the vice that makes their own journey to truth even harder. Each individual has their respective virtue, which was what they deprived of, and a respective vice, which is what they take advantage of, to combat. The soul, at least to me, is something that insists on the needed journey of one individual to represent and showcase a certain aspect of humanity. However, I don't think this is the only thing that this entity represents. I will write more about this topic in my next post!
