I am not sure if you have ever read "The Art of Peace: Balance Over Conflict in Sun-Tzu's The Art of War"

"The Art of Peace is drawn from the ancient Taoist work The Art of War by Sun-tzu-it is, in effect, the Tao of Peace. This version brings an entirely fresh yet textually sound interpretation to the many translations of The Art of War by emphasizing the true slant of the original text: balance over conflict.

By newly translating Sun-tzu's strategy classic, Philip Dunn provides the peaceful warrior with methods of getting in touch with the inner and outer nature of silence and vigilance that has been forgotten over millennia of war."

Now if you're still wondering why we are talking about this its because this is pretty much the outline of this blog, finding balance. I and others are trying to peacefully bring balance to the content policy and jury system while remaining vigilant to the issues.

We (Leading members of MCOSI ) have identified the following as topics to discuss with the CEO of Minds, Bill Ottman who has promised us a meeting to discuss the following needed tools, features and fixes to the system.

- NSFW

1.) Opt-in channel

This request has been added to “sprint: Giddy Giraffe” and is estimated to be completed June 19th 2019 and may be removed if implemented.

2.) Reminds and media sources

We will be discussing issues with E filters on reminds and other media lined areas.

https://gitlab.com/minds/front/issues/1410

3.) Create NSFW news-feed?

The possibility to start a NSFW dedicated feed that does not require search specifications.

1.) Daily limits on reporters

We will discuss adding daily limits to accounts for reporting actions.

2.) Who first flagged (Know your reporter or 6th amendment enforcement)

We will discuss the reasons why accounts should know there reporter and be able to protect there account from reporters in general, and are a fundamental base for transparency.

3.) What staff tagged (marked) content.

We will discuss the trust base of admins who approve reports, versus if the vote was appealed and why .

4.) People on the jury and the vote result.

We will discuss the reason why vote results to the user and jury are a fundamental to transparency and account Independence.

5.) Link to the content in question.

6.) Report reporter abuse with/from appeal.

We will discuss why appeals should be able to report abuse in the system, and how this links to know your reporter.

- Appeals

1.) Create appeal panel page for better functionality

This will allow for a better feel and tools page for features.

2.) Create Defined areas of acceptance and denial. ("What is spam ; can speech be NSFW")

3.) Block reporters from appeal panel (Know your reporters)

- Wording

We will discuss why better wording is needed for the content policy including:

Strike – Ban-able offense

Soft strike - NSFW warning

- Time served

1.) Allow current channels to be unmarked and meet current content policy rules to appeal to jury.

We will discuss removing NSFW channels that were never applied a strike by the system.

2.) Make soft strikes fall off and channels to be restored without NSFW filters after time served for soft strikes.

We will discuss a fall off of NSFW channels after an amount of time served to allow them to opt-in or mark there own content after punishment and enforcement of policy's.

- Open Source

1.) Add the content policy to Minds Gitlab (polices) for open source review.

We will discuss why the content policy is not open for review in an open sourced community based way, and how future users can contribute or request changes.

2.) Mention { BOR } rights never being added.

We will re-enforce the open source principles and time frames of completion using the { BOR }  as an example of non implementation of open source values by the network.

                  Closing

I think this is one of the most major issues on the network, and urge you to get evolved in the debate and remember Minds is an open sourced social media that you can evolve. If you are not sure where to start feel free to come drop by MCOSI and ask how you can help be it with this issue, others or ones to come. Thanks as always for reading, feel free to drop a comment and hope to see you for the next one :)
