My grandmother preferred red onions over white onions and after researching a bit I figured out exactly why, seems red onions contain 'quercetin' which is a polyphenol compound beneficial for scavenging free radicals in the body. Quercetin, has been shown to inhibit inflammation-causing leukotrienes, prostaglandins and histamines in osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It also helps in reducing the risk of heart disease by lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or “bad” cholesterol and helps prevent the progression of cancer. " ~MariPia
Take note one very large onion will produce 1/2 cup of cough elixir~
Slice a red onion in half
Pour organic honey, about 2 tablespoons over a small flat plate
Place sliced-side down over the honey
Allow it to rest up to 4 hours
Use a strainer and remove the sliced onion over a glass mason jar or glass bowl
Press and squeeze as much liquid out of the onion skin
Refrigerate and good for up to 5 days
Use: Take a teaspoon every 4hours or mix and use it in green tea for added effect
Tip: Buy in bulk, 2 very x-large onions will render 2 cups worth.
If doing the above below, you can place in a glass bowl, toss it thoroughly, place a lid or plastic wrap, and soak it over night.

Place an extra thick slice of onion on the bottom of your foot, preferably and old sock and sleep overnight for added relief of congestion, fevers, flu symptoms and mainly upper respiratory illnesses.
