Who are Gods Chosen People

There seems to be some confusion over whom Gods chosen people actually are. Understanding the difference between the Israelites, and the people of the nation-state of Israel, the Israelis might help folks gain a better grasp on this dilemma.

The original Israelites were the Hebrews and the mixed multitude of people that were delivered from bondage in Egypt, by the hand of Moses and by the will of God. It is to these people that God had told, "For you are a holy people (holy meaning 'set apart') to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth", in Deuteronomy 14:2. Please take note, that not all these people are Hebrews (ie the mixed multitude).

Over time the Israelites underwent many trials, but were finally delivered to the 'promised land', promised them by God. Here the sons and daughters of Abraham underwent an incurable strife and split off into two groups. Those that remained in Judea with Reaboam, the King of Judah after Solomons Death, along with the Benjamites, some of the Levites, and whatever multitude was grafted in, are what we call the Jews of the House of Judah today; many of winch belong to the nation-state of Israel. The rest of them went to the north with Jeroboam as their king and are know as the ten tribes to the north, or the House of Ephraim.

Later, the House of Ephraim divorced God by way of their perpetual, unrepentant sin, and God dispersed them, sifting them in with the gentile nations of the world; and amongst the gentiles, lost their identity. Nobody to this day knows whom belongs to the House of Ephraim or whom does not.

So,  we have the Jews, the remnant of the House of Judah; the lost tribe of Ephraim mixed in with the gentile peoples of the world, not knowing whom they are; and the gentile peoples themselves. Of all of the people of the world, some are Israelites and some are not. Let's not forget, that God chose the Israelites to be his possession and his chosen people; He did not choose the Jews and certainly not any of the gentile peoples.

If you are an Israelite, then you are one of Gods chosen people. As an Israelite, you may be a Jew, a Jew whom has lost her/his identity, or may have been a person of the gentile nations.

What makes a person of the world an Israelite is an altogether different discussion. Suffice it to say, it is your choice which makes you a member of the Israelite Commonwealth, not your heredity, and thus a chosen of God.
