I never quite know how to begin one of these; especially a blog such as this, an introduction, something of a first impression. I have been around here for a while now, liking, commenting, posting pictures of flowers and mostly just generally lurking about. It does feel proper to say hello.

Hello world, I am Lori. My husband and I work together on the plains of Colorado. We run a small crafting business where we collect just about every tool we can find. Vintage, new, antique, decrepit, forgotten, it has found a home with us. We have a laser cutter that is the backbone of the business. We make Christmas ornaments, paintings, shields, signs, flair buttons, birdhouses, musical instruments, cross stitch pattern, painting stencils and whatever else strikes our creative fancy.

I love taking pictures, both my parents were professional photographers so I grew up tagging along after them just behind the lens. Or if not behind the lens then at least holding the reflector. For my 13th birthday I received a Nikon N65 film camera and captured my world through it for 7 years until it was lost in a house fire. These days, I had to pick between a cell phone or a high powered camera so I am using my Samsung S8. I am never above crawling on the ground for that perfect shot!

2 years ago gardening enveloped our existence. We live in the country and decided that it was about time we started living the way my husband and I had been brought up and not attempting to live a city lifestyle in the country. We threw some seeds at the ground, prayed and were most grateful for the bountiful harvest. Last year we had an incident with some herbicides sneaking into our garden on some store bought compost so we spent most of the year mitigating and learning. There will be more about our adventure on that in a later blog.

Gardening can have one heck of a learning curve.

Cooking can be quite the all encompassing side effect of gardening. There is so much work that goes into growing the food that you can forget what it takes to preserve and enjoy the harvest. I hope to share recipes, stories, fun pictures and the sciences behind the flavors and foods we love.

Lastly Colorado is one of the most important aspects of our wild life out here. As Colorado Natives we love to enjoy the sights, sounds and awe inspiring beauty the state has to offer. The weather can be quite the challenge, blizzards, wind, hail, torrential rains, drought, a slightly abusive relationship but the fantastic days more then make up for it.

Finding a balance between our crafts, hobbies, business, families, friends, and ourselves can be quite the task. However my hope is that there will be more time for us to share our stories, and adventures. Thank you to all the wonderful people I have met here, those who have taken the time out to educate, chat, and engage. The experience has been fantastic and the credit goes to you guys!
