I wish to take time to clarify that I have some new year resolutions for 2018, especially given that @DaveRubin recently posted this video about Ending the Year with Tolerance. Frankly this video he did inspired me to set up some new year resolutions that most of have to do with escalated open mindedness.
Firstly, my highest priority new years resolution is a dietary one, of all possible kinds of resolutions. I will openly try to be a little less carnivorous and a little more omnivorous with my food intake, that way I have a better shot a losing enough weight to finally earn the love of a like-minded blue eyed brunette. Or green eyed, either one works for me.
Besides this, I desire to actually ask the advise of every person I know I can trust to give me a coherent answer to any question I have before I spend any of my money. This resolution is to counter a spending habit I have that I want to break. For example, if at work I am about to buy an entire $10 meal and think to myself "Zach or Jason or Mike or Jacob [my 4 truest friends] might want to hang out so should I really buy this much?" Then I will go put back everything, or if not everything I will make the $1 beverage all I buy for break that shift. Also, here on Minds, I will never sign for monthly billing ever again, I will buy just 15,000 points once per week, doing it manually every time, as every $1 buys 1,000 points.
Next, we come to the mental and intellectual resolutions I have for 2018. Religiously, I will start being equally as open minded to religious arguments for positions I agree or disagree with as I have always been & always will be to humanistic arguments, as a Non-religious humanism guy myself. Politically, I will put more effort into reading 10+ different centrist, rightist and leftist narratives on the same news flash than I historically have put.
Lastly we come to the friend and family resolutions. I will always ask people what is new with them first, if nothing is new with them then I will ask them if they want to hear about something of passionate interest to me, and if they give any no answer - or even an "I have no idea" kind of answer - I will apply what I spend the month of December of 2017 about basic interpersonal skills further, all across future years starting with 2018.
Thank you all for reading this, and have a markedly merry Christmas, or if you celebrate some other end-of year holiday in place of Christmas than happy [your December holiday here] I say onto you. Oh and lastly, happy new years to all who look forward to 2018, even if some do not look forward.
