Fuck It, Before It Fucks You #46 (Avarice will kill you in time)

So you know who gets on my nerves these days? Bill Fucking Maher. I don’t know what his middle name actually is, but I’ve decided that it’s “Fucking” until I’m told otherwise (don’t tell me otherwise) Anyway, I guess I still watch him just to have something to bitch about on my blog I’ve been watching him off and on since he first had a show on Comedy Central I feel like he used to actually stand for something back then. Back when his show was called “Politically Incorrect”. Of course, he lost that show for being one of the few people with the balls to come out a week after 9-11 and say there might be reasons people in the middle east want to kill us that have nothing to do with how supposedly free we are, and maybe it’s not so cowardly to fly planes into the buildings of the country that lobs cruise missiles at you. He also used to be one of the few voices standing up for third parties, and exposing the false dichotomy of the two party system. But I guess money does change people, and gives them a lot more to lose by upsetting the apple cart. Now he looks down on the left from his cushy HBO studio and informs them that they have nowhere else to go. Of course he’s wrong. For one thing I personally know some former Democrats who voted for Trump, so they found somewhere to go. And of course there are other parties who won’t win because not enough people vote for them, because they don’t win, because not enough people vote for them….. And then there’s always the time honored American tradition of not bothering to get out of bed on Election Day. So while I do still agree with some of Bill’s politics, at least in theory, he loses me and a lot of other people when he talks down to the lower class. And I’ve found a lot of this on the American “Left”. I think it took me moving to the West Coast to be able to see up close and personal why much of “Middle America has a problem with what passes for the left in this country.. It’s because of this intellectual elite that looks down their noses at the people they claim to represent. Trump may not actually represent these people either, but he is able to make them feel like he does.

I went out to the movies last night. I don’t do that a lot these days, but I felt like I had to see this new Joker movie. Yes there are going to be spoilers, just so ya know.. I thought it was a pretty great movie. Also pretty disturbing. Definitely beats out the Dark Knight version in my opinion. Also I’m wondering if there’s going to be a follow up Batman movie that starts with young Bruce watching his parents get murdered, and explores how that fucks him up until he eventually becomes a darker, more twisted version of Batman. There’s a lot of places D.C. could go with this that would totally kick the shit out of the Marvel Universe series, in my opinion. Not that I actually watched much of that. But if this is the first in a mega series like that, then I’m all in. But I digress, often. Anyway, what I really appreciated about this movie was the way it illustrates the disconnect between the sheltered upper classes and the masses. That rhymes but not on purpose. Not to mention the gap with society and the mentally ill. Many of whom are just going through their day trying their hardest to pass themselves off as “normal”, as they’re looked down upon, ridiculed and marginalized by society at large, their needs ignored by everyone. Until one of them snaps and everyone’s like “How did this happen?”. In one of the pivotal scenes, the main character shoots three dickhead stockbrokers on the subway, which wasn’t right but it was also hard to feel bad for the guys who were just beating him on the floor of the train after pretty brashly sexually harassing a woman. Of course the news doesn’t say any of that, it just says that three upstanding wealthy educated citizens were gunned down by a crazy guy dressed as a clown. Then Thomas Wayne comes out and says that anyone who hasn’t made something of themselves in his view is a clown. So the poor of Gotham decide to embrace the label and protest dressed as clowns.

Which brings me back to Bill Fucking Maher. Since last night was a Friday, I was able to come home after the movie and watch some clips of his newest show. And here’s this fucker calling out the Republicans for letting Trump slide with shit they would have crucified Obama or the Clintons for. And of course they are hypocrites, as are the Democrats. Of course what he always fails to realize is those aren’t necessarily the same Republicans. Trump isn’t speaking to the party, he’s speaking to the people. Like rank and file Republican voters. Many of whom used to be Democrats. They don’t care what George W. Bush thinks of him, because a lot of them hate George W. Bush for getting us into Iraq. And they don’t give a fuck if he “lost” Syria (like it was ours to lose) because they didn’t give a shit about Syria to begin with. Or Libya, or Iraq. Many people are sick of America’s military being the world’s police force. They want us out of the middle east, and that’s what they see Trump doing now. Of course it’s all bullshit because He’s sending more troops to Saudi Arabia, but who’s going to tel them that? MSNBC? The Democrats? They’ve lost all credibility with these people. People jump on him for saying things like “I love the poorly educated!”, but guess what? A lot of American’s are poorly educated! So that’s who he wants to appeal to. So maybe the Democrats ought to take a page or two from his playbook, especially the anti-war, non-intervention stuff. I remember they used to be the Anti-War party, now any anti-war person who tries to get their nomination gets smacked down and called a Russian spy.

Well, for me if I’m going to bother voting, it’s going to be for an anti-war candidate. Obviously I can’t vote for Trump for multiple reasons, and I see through his bullshit. I’d vote for Tulsi but her chances are less than a snowball in Hell. So that just leaves the Greens and Libertarians, and a bunch more nobody knows about.And If I don’t have that option for some reason then I might as well just stay home, kick my feet up and say Fuck It! Before it fucks you.
