Aside from the fact that Hillary Clinton was downright crooked, I'm going to tell you why she lost from a marketing perspective with two points.
The first is simplicity.
When Trump speaks he uses plain easy-to-understand language. Next time you hear him speak pay attention to this.
Most politicians use big words or terms people don't understand which they think makes them look smart.
The problem is when you're using language that people don't understand they can't get the message.
The average American is not educated in Law & Finance, let alone foreign policy so when these politicians start speaking, the people are lost.
That's the first thing that allowed Trump to connect with the everyday U.S. citizen.
The second reason is CALL-TO-ACTION.
Look at the two slogans from the presidential candidates:
Make America Great Again
I'm With Her
Make America Great Again is a call-to-action while Hillary's terrible slogan is some sort of pledge of allegiance.
When you create your brand slogans, try to make them calls-to-action.
Look around - everyone has spun their own version of Trump's slogan while Hillary has been forgotten.
You'll see Make Women Great Again, Make Guns Great Again, Make Marketing Great Again - we can go on forever. That's how you know you have a powerful slogan - when people copy.
Not only is Trump's slogan a call-to-action for himself but for the American citizens too. It empowers the people and gives them something to get behind.
It's the best campaign slogan ever!
When you're writing copy for your brand landing page or other marketing materials, you need to have a call-to-action and make the language plain and simple so people can easily understand it.
Don't be Michael E. Dyson - a guy who uses a whole bunch of big words but says absolutely nothing.
