“Oh fuck.” I said as Max flew about ten feet away from the car. The car was working now but I wasn’t sure if he was alive or dead. So I ran out of the car and to him. He was lying flat on the ground and had burned skin on his hands. I checked for a pulse and there was none, he wasn’t breathing either. I started crying there next to him. A good half-hour had passed before a thought came to my mind. I ran back to the car and looked in the backpacks for something that I had seen earlier. I found it after several minutes of searching. It was a series of syringes inside of a case and it was called something along the lines of, “Biochemical Regeneration Fluid.” The syringes were labeled, Cellular Regeneration, Bioelectrical Sparker, and Organ Repair. Conveniently it, like most of the items in the backpacks, had instructions and they read as follows:

…first inject the syringe marked, “Organ Repair” into the heart of the patient. Then inject the syringe marked, “Bioelectrical Sparker” into the base of the patient’s skull, into the cerebral cortex. Finally inject the syringe marked, “Cellular Regeneration” in the heart of the patient…

After reading this I grabbed the case and ran to Max’s limp body lying there on the ground. I proceeded to jab the first syringe into his heart as directed by the instructions. Then I rolled him over and injected the second syringe in the base of his skull. His body began to shake and convulse. It was hard but I was able to turn him so he was on his back. I had to sit on his stomach to steady the syringe and I inserted it into his heart. His eyes flung open and he took a gasping breath in and then his eyes closed. I checked his pulse and he had one and he was breathing as well. The burns on his hands looked as if they were healing right there before my eyes. I dragged him back to the car and pushed him into the car. When I finally got him in I walked around the car to stretch and take a breath and at that moment I felt something hard hit the back of my head. The world fell into blackness.
