How to write a Blog on MINDS.

The blog section of Minds has been largely ignored by many users. It is so easy to just quickly put a few words into the post section of the channel, upload a quick picture, press post and be done. However, the blog resource is a valuable and useful tool for longer pieces of writing in which you might want want to embed a number of pictures to illustrate your piece.

I have had a few questions about writing, posting a blog and adding photos, so I am writing this to give a few pointers. I do not know all the ins and outs myself, i am sure, but this will be enough to get you writing and publishing your own blogs to your heart's content!

1/ The Banner Picture - The banner picture is the most important thing. It is what will catch people's eye and a great picture or header will help your blog stand out in the menu display. The banner is displayed in Wide Screen format, 16:9. this can asily be adjusted in PHOTOS if you are using window, simply go to edit/crop and set the aspect ratio to 16:9. You may have to resize the photo, but that is also easily done, using PAINT. just open, hit resize and adjust accordingly.
 

To post the Banner Picture is easy, simply press the big button that says Click Here To Add New Banner.


Once done, select the picture you want and upload it, done.


2/ The Title

The title is almost as important as the banner picture. You want something that is relevant to the blog article, but not too long and involved. Snappy and catchy. This is the hook that gets people interested in why they should read the article at all. Catch their attention here or they will move on to greener looking pastures. it does not matter what literary genius lies within the article if no one is reading.

The Title section is denoted by a grey lettering above the name saying YOUR TITLE. This section must be filled in for personalised links to be made, but we will get to that soon.



3/ The Content - Below the name is where the main body of the blog will be placed. This can be written or pictures. To write something, simply follow the cursor as you normally would.

To put photos and pictures into your blog is a little more involved. Not much, but if you do not know what you are looking for, it is a bit tricky. Leave a line after your paragraph of text, a + sign should appear in the left margin. 


When pressed it opens up options for pictures to be uploaded or a link inserted.

Once you have filled in your blog with the information you wish to present, it is just a matter of pressing the PUBLISH button for it to go live.


you can also save a draft in blogs to return to to work on at a later date.


In order to edit your blog, go to the top right corner and click the downward pointing arrow. This will open a drop down box which will enable you to edit or delete the blog, or set it to explicit.

To share a blog, you can right click it on your channel page and select copy link location, this will set up a personalised link to that blog. This personalised link only works if the title is filled out though.

This should be enough to get you on your way. only you can decided your topic. Whatever you write about, have fun.
