My mother found this recipe in an Irish cookbook gifted from my grandmother. Here it is from memory...
1 medium head cabbage
1# bacon diced 1/2"
1 sweet onion diced
1 kielbasa sliced
Caraway seed
2/3C beef broth
1/3C white wine
1 medium head of cabbage chopped roughly into 1inch chunks. Add 1/2 cabbage to large bowl cover with cold water sprinkle with salt. Add the remainder cabbage and repeat. Soaked for 1-4 hrs.
Preheat oven to 350°f
Line 9x13" baking dish with bacon, overlap as needed
Bake bacon for 15-20mins
Rinse cabbage
Layer in baking dish:
2/3 cabbage, sprinkle Caraway seed, onion, kielbasa, cabbage (smash as needed), Caraway seed, onion, rest of kielbasa.
Pour in broth
Cover
Bake for 45 minutes, uncover bake for 15mins.
