Between Jon Foreman, the Welsh artist, and land art, it's a love story. Using stones of all shapes and sizes, Jon Foreman creates beautiful works on the Welsh pages. Creating subliminal images, the artist dazzled and surprised bathers with the arrangement of the stones he picked up.
In Wales, artist Jon Foreman discovered "land art" in college. "Land art" is a trend in contemporary art using the framework and materials of nature such as wood, earth, stones, sand, water, rock, etc ... For its part, it chose the stones to create sublime works on the beaches:
“I create using many natural materials, but stone has proven to be the material I can handle the best. Whether it's color, angle, shape, size, placement, spacing, ”says Jon Foreman to Bored Panda, referring to the construction of his works.
"In general, I start either with a rough idea of what I would like to do, or with no idea! Then, I collect what I can wear and I start by placing stone by stone, gradually losing myself in the process and disconnecting from the stress of everyday life. ” he goes on to explain how he manages to arrange the stones into art images.
Using land art methods to then create works is for Jon Foreman a therapy, it speaks to him more than the painter or the drawing: “There are endless possibilities. Not only that, but there are endless environments to work in, all different from each other. Going out and creating work has a profound effect on my mental health. It keeps my mind healthy and satisfied. ” he confides.
Jon Foreman, the Welsh artist developed his skills in this area in 2018 while participating in the Llano Earth Art Fest. During this meeting between actors of land art, he declares having found artists whom he only knew on the canvas: “There, I met around thirty artists whom I have known online for years but whom I do not know. 've never met in person ". For him, this meeting helped put land art into orbit: "This festival is responsible for a lot of development in the field and I am extremely grateful for it. In part thanks to this festival, land art has developed with a really close and positive community in recent years ”.
