Dead Youth: A ComedyNov 30, 2019, 5:26:18 PM

This is essentially an update after I've been away from Minds for awhile.  It's as much to do with communicating with my subscribers as it is to do with communicating with myself, with showing the plan for this channel to you, but also with myself.  It's also an update on the making of my film "Dead Youth: A Comedy", and I have good news!

A funny meme per day M-F.  I've done this for a long time on the channel, and it seems to be a winning formula.  I think of it as me distilling the whole world wide web down to it's intelligent, funny points, and sharing that with you, so you don't have to. This is what I have used and will  continue to use to attract people to the channel and build an audience for content I will create that takes me more time, but will be will of more value to you because it takes more time.

On that note, I'm going to be creating "videos"  every M, W, F. They will be roughly 20 minutes long and will be voice overs with images that I will talk about.  I honestly have no idea what the topics will be, but I suspect it will be art/storytelling related and some social commentary as well.  Monday's videos will be free, but I'm contemplating putting Wednesday and Friday's videos behind a paywall.  THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH CREATORS WANTING TO MAKE MONEY.

On Saturday's I'm going to write a blog about...whatever. That will also always be free.  They may be funny, or not, or both.  I've just always been really good at writing, and yet that's not something I've done with this channel.  "Why not?" I asked myself this morning.  So here we are.

With all that said, that is all in an attempt to create as big an audience as possible for my films.  The way or ways this channel translates into my films is probably not obvious, but there is a method to my madness. I've never seen a great film that annoyed their "friends" begging for money on gofundme or patreon.  I'm not sure why, but that just hasn't happened yet.

So, when I started this channel I only knew one thing: that I wouldn't try to make the next great film asking "friends" for money.  Instead, I'd create a channel that was topical, intelligent, and (most importantly) funny...because that's how my films are.  The audience for that content would naturally be the audience for my films.  You can thank me later for never begging you for money.

All great things are worth working hard for.  In fact, it appears to me that it's necessary. Somehow the universe demands you suffer to earn a great thing, and I'm one of the few people that just accepts that and keeps going.

So now, for the update!  My screenplay "Dead Youth: A Comedy" has a producer attached to it.  He's looking for investors for a budget of roughly a million dollars.  Interestingly enough, the Hollywood industry literally considers that a no budget film (seriously, that's what it would be officially classified as on paper).  Wait until they realize I wrote it to be produced with a budget even smaller than that.

The same company I used to work with that producer, a game changer I found on WeFunder called Voyage Media, liked my work and has asked me to write for them. Also, a man in Nashville has asked me to work on developing a screenplay with him about his life as a gay man who fled Christianity but ultimately returned and now works as a pastor trying to spread the good news to a group of people that might never have felt comfortable attending a church service.

Now, after this has all happened in the past month and I quit my job as a corporate videographer, it looks like I will start making money as a writer.  Also, I've decided to return to Minds and take this channel to the next level, so join me on the journey!

(Also, also...today was the first day I woke up able to breath out of my nose in over a week of a sinus infection.  Truly a sign that today is the day to START TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD...I mean...get some more subscribers.)
