From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
The Good - Its a Predator movie so anyone who likes the odd Yautja flick will likely enjoy this as I did so keep in mind I will be a little biased here, good action scenes, some good bloody violence, some reasonably funny moments, I cant wait for the next one but maybe more serious than this one in future would be good.
This movie does expand on the lore and cannon like Predator 2 did maybe even more..
maybe a little too much.
The Bad - some scenes are obviously out of place I'd guess because of scheduling issues and the unfortunate situation with the sex offender's scenes being removed causing a shuffle, some of the comedy falls a bit flat, not much suspense, the movie is set in an urban setting and is reminiscent of the AVPs which many fans try not to speak of and which I personally disliked but still own like a hypocrite with slight OCD when it comes to collecting my favourite franchise's.
Call me crazy if you wish but Predator 2 was one of my favourites mainly because of how it expanded the lore and cannon of the franchise without revealing to much and even thought it was a box office failure I still watch it on occasion... I know an Urban setting with a Predator can be immersive, suspenseful and entertaining but this one missed the mark a bit, the new lore and cannon explored was a bit in your face with little to no mystery, slightly disappointing but not as bad as the hoity toity critics would have you believe.
Anyway Yautja fans on ya bikes and have fun its not all doom and gloom, definitely worth a watch but maybe on Disc or Streaming when they have a release date.
