I want to avoid youtube as much as possible but they have by far the most varied content. A lot of stuff I like to watch is not available anywhere else. I can make up for that a little by contributing my own videos to the alternative platforms but that doesn't solve the problem.
There's a chrome or firefox extension you can use to watch any youtube video on bit.tube. As a member of bit.tube you'll be able to get paid for watching videos as well as for views of any videos you upload. The currency they use is called TubeCoin. I'll do a review of BitTube soon.
With the extension installed, you just go to a youtube video page, click the extension's icon and then click "watch on bittube". The resulting page will be like this example.
It's just one small extra step, but well worth it to help demonetize youtube and send the control freaks back to the slimy pit they crawled out of.
