When can we start treating our leaders like premier league managers? Premier league managers are merited (or kept in work) based on results. Now given that the system for electing managers is more of a private, linear one, it is more difficult to do so in the real world. You can't help but think the government system being made so difficult to elect and unelect is done so by design. Undoubtedly true for the positions such as the clown court Tony Blair created.
Results based treatment for premier league (and other football) bosses has been deemed unfair in a lot of cases, but even then there are direct routes (ticket sales, protests, merch sales, chants) to let the perpetrators know of your feelings towards any bad, or snap, decisions they may be contemplating.
By contrast we treat our governmental leaders like kings and we're the court jesters...except we're not after laughter...our currency is how "woke" we are judged to be. Whether this is on the climate, or ill treatment of others in foreign countries, we want it known; we are offended! The government see this as "ahh the puppet strings the media helped attach are working well, we'll have to ensure we reinforce this by shaking a few hands or feigning shock at how the world is treated....That'll keep them busy, and us thoroughly entertained."
And our kings and queens aren't just our leaders, they are our "friends" and followers on social media. The mainstream media, as mentioned, for the most part only take our gaze away from results based and to showing our virtue. It isn't our virtue, it's how brainwashed we are. And we're lining up to show how our lobotomy was more effective than the other guys.
So in order to force our leaders to start acting like it, we get rid of the middle men, by either putting our energy in something proactive and treating social media as a recording of pastimes or thought provoking, ditching it altogether...either way, you're using it, not performing FOR it.
There is a lot of middle men or useless fat that will remain due to this horrible first past the post government system. Just like the useless fat that sat there and called it a democracy when them and all the other suits voted against a general election. So there should be a motion on that too. And I'd advise all the smaller parties to run on tickets that prioritise getting unelected bureaucrats out of our government. But until that gains some momentum...In fact as a prerequisite to that getting any ground, we need to rid ourselves of this need to prove we are good people. Most of us by default, are. And by email, post and online ask leaders of not just governments but movements what exactly they are doing for the cause. And if what they having been doing has proved ineffective for years now, why are they still doing it this way?
To the leaders and figureheads of movements especially; how are you going to review if what you are doing is effective? And how are you measuring your results? Because if the answer is "because it's the right thing to do" or anything feeling related, you are nothing but a modern day court jester. #WakeTheFuckUp
