Today the P.O.V. shifts to certain bloodthirsty female Drow fighter, Dar’Kandra. What will she have to say? Find out as My Gaming Journey: Icewind Dale II – Journal Entry #15 begins now!
Stupid surface dwellers, stupid, stupid surface dwellers! Lolth’s bane when we began our endeavors this morning, I had no inclination of just how infuriating I would find most of these surfacers, save for Terrax of course! Ugh, first we had to deal with more of that Banite, Hiepherus’ undead monsters! What a coward, hiding behind his minions rather than facing us himself! That man is utterly pathetic! We ended up fighting a rather nasty Wight lord named Khavrus the Black.
Thankfully the Illmatarian’s turn undead made quick work of those half-dead freaks and we took down that Wight Lord rather quickly.
Then we got to Kuldahar village underneath that giant tree, and that’s when things got really messy. We met with our first Yuam-Ti, and let me just say they are the most disgusting creatures I have ever seen in my life! Unfortunately, they can also hit fairly hard. During several encounters with them Brannon nearly got killed and I took a number of injuries myself. Half-human/Half-snake filth, may the Yocolol caress you in the abyss!
And then we met Isalore, the High Druid of Kuldahar, and a Half-Elf.
That’s where I saw Brannon, Mali, and even Terax’s face go deathly pale! When my handsome Thayvian’s face gets that pale it can’t be good. The revelations I have to admit made even me sick! Back during the time that Terax’s parents were part of Tien Steelsong’s adventuring group in Icewind Dale, they fought two demons Belhifet and Yxunomei. As it turns up, Yxunomei got the last laugh on Terrax’s parents along with the rest of the original heroes of Icewind Dale. It seems the Yuan-Ti forced themselves on the human women of Kuldahar. Nine months after the events of Icewind Dale, the women of the village began giving birth. The men were moved to such rage that the women and their offspring were forced out and fled to Dragon’s Eye.
The story only got worse, Mother Egania, a Priestess of Illmatar set forth to Dragon’s Eye and beyond to see if there were survivors. In her travels she came across the body of an elf woman named Illmadia, the same Illmadia my Terrax’s parents helped slay years ago. Egania resurrected her and learned the woman had only joined Belhifet’s legions because she dreamed of reviving the Severed Hand an ancient fortress that once belonged to the Surface Elves. Shortly afterwards Illmadia discovered she was pregnant. Now I understand what the lord of Guardians was warning Brannon about! Belhifet had planted a black seed in Illmadia and she gave birth 9 months later to Cambions part Demon/part Elf. The shock was so overwhelming the woman committed suicide. Bah, pathetic weakling! I would’ve just slaughtered those abominations first chance I got! Some of these surface elves are so utterly pitiful!
Afterwards, that fool Egania tried to raise the twins teaching what Isalore called, “Morality in a bottle”. Morality, I learned in Ust Natha, like trust is for the foolish! Isalore cane to Kuldahar shortly after the events with the two Demons. He dissuaded the villagers from going after the half Yuan-Ti in Dragon’s Eye. He then tried to convince Mother Egania to give up on raising the Twins whom he named after his own parents, idiot! Years later when Mother Egania died Isair and Madae were driven out of Kuldahar by the villagers. Not that I blame them who would want a couple of freakish Cambions as part of the village. Had this been Ust Natha they would’ve been killed a long time ago!
Afterwards, the twins started out in Luskan with intimidation and confidence games eventually attracting the attention of the Hosttower of the Arcane.
That explains why Harshoon attacked us, so the Hosttower have aligned themselves with the Legion of the Chimera. This just confirms to Terrax and me that the Legion of the Chimera is a threat that must be eliminated! Isair and Madae received training in the dark arts. As suspected Isair has become a Sorceror, and Madae now worships Bane’s hateful bastard son, Iyachtu Xvim. Then they enlisted in the Blood War, the eternal battle between the Devils and Demons of the Nine Hells. They met their father Belhifet. Ironically in Hell they found they fit in just as badly there as in the material plane. So they returned found their way to the Severed Hand and started the Legion of the Chimera.
We then learned why the Yuan-Ti have been attacking Kuldahar. Apparently this place was once a Jungle, in fact the entire world was a Jungle. During that time the Yuan-Ti sought to rule over all! The creatures of Faerun. Hidden beneath Kuldahar is a portal leading to an area called, The Crossroads. It is an area in a Jungle region of the world called Chult. The Yuan-Ti sought to open a way to that region to gather help from their fellow Yuan-Ti in the region. Worse they’ve been chopping away at the roots of the great tree in order to attract the attention of Isalore in order to get the Heartstone Gem, an exceptionally powerful magical item.
Then the most massive piece of stupidity was given to us by Isalore! This situation with the Legion of the Chimera started over…an insult, a stupid insult! Apparently as Half—Breeds moved into the Severed Hand; the Legion sent out notices announcing their authority in the region. Some of the villages chose to ignore them, others sent people to try and negotiate with them. The idiot mayor of Bryn-Shander and his lackeys sent gifts of wine and pastries which were laced with holy items to Isair and Madae. These stupid surface dwellers thought that would be funny! Surface nobility can be such fools!
We searched the town, in the process killing more wretched Yuan-Ti. As disgusting as they are, they aren’t as bad as those wretched Black Raven Barbarians!
watchtower where Nathaniel and a person named Jermsy were located. That idiot captain of the guard was about ready to skewer me! I wanted to kill him but Terrax advised me against that! So instead I chose to calm him down. We then found out where that coward Banite, Hiepherus, was hiding. I was quite eager for the kill! We stormed the graveyard where he was located and through steel, and turn undead destroyed his pathetic undead! Then we made it into his hideout and came face to face with the coward and his force of undead and Neo-Orogs.
Forgoing the rest, we made our way to the Banite since his spell casting power made him the most immediate threat. I still lick my lips tasting his blood as my magical scimitar tore into his innards! Afterwards we defeated the Neo-Orogs and Wraiths though it took some effort. Once that was done, we scoured the dead for treasure and Mali found a secret cache of scrolls and even information on some kind of sacred sword that only Holy warriors can wield. Looks like the paladin may be getting a new blade sometime in the future.
As we left, the Illmatarian wiped off some filth on the statue of his God sanctifying the graveyard for him. I think the servant of the human God of Suffering actually looked rather pleased with himself
We returned to Jermsy and he gave a nice reward to Terrax. A wise move since I know we want to be paid and that idiot paladin and his charity would leave us dirt poo! We also learned about a couple of people named Conlan and Sheemish. Two people whom Terrax, Mali, and Brannon remember from the tales of years ago in Icewind Dale. Conlan sight is not what it used to be but we helped him find his son. It turns up Sheemish was in the tower of a former resident of this town Orrick, a wizard of some repute. To my amusement Sheemish was rather taken with me. While I despise many surfacers, I do have an appreciation for those who appreciate my assets. Terrax has shown me his appreciation often enough when we shared a bed at some Inn during the early part of our journey. We then bought what we needed, unfortunately we had to hold off on buying anything from Sheemish because we needed to upgrade our weapons with Conlan. Thankfully once his son was safe the group got a nice discount on his items.
After dealing with several annoying groups of Yuan-Ti and resting up we went through the Portal to the Crossroads.
There we fought more Yuan-I including some of their pesky priests who managed to get some spells off on us. Annoying snake things I was more than happy to send them screaming in agony to the abyss! Mali’s sticky fingers have been causing her to take some of the Stele thing we’ve seen at the small temples in the Crossroad region. The Mezros have proven surprisingly useful, their information on the region has proven quite valuable! When Mali took one stele she was spotted by a group of Acolytes of the Yuan-Ti’s God Seth. The priest and acolytes attacked us…and were all gloriously slaughtered!
In my discussions with the Paladin it’s become clear he seeks to destroy everything in this temple as it seems to been seen as an abomination to Brannon and his God, Helm. I have no qualms about it. If it gives me the chance for more bloodshed and death then I say bring on the challenge. Isair and Madae, you will pay for your nonsense you annoying garbage!
