Watch the coolest guy ever build a cabin and live off land in Alaskan mountains for 30 years

Alternative World News NetworkAug 24, 2015, 6:32:33 AM

An inspiration and a man that found his passion, Richard Proenneke, traveled to the mountains of Alaska and, for 30 years, lived by the banks of Twin Lakes in a cabin that he built by hand.

A World War I veteran, he spent his time hunting, fishing and raising and gathering his food.  He would occasionally have supplies flown in and inspired journalists, film makers and writers to tell his story through multiple forms of media.

Richard passed away in 2003, but his legacy lives on in the films that were made and the data that he collected.  His home is now a visitor attraction in a remote part of Lake Clark National Park.
