How to: Live stream to #YouTube on #mobile without the 1k subscriber minimum using Minds.com #Gatherings 😏

This is a step by step process to circumvent YouTube's minimum subscriber threshold for mobile streaming. It's not super simple or ideal but it works 😉

Step 1:

Set up a live stream using YouTube Studio to generate a stream key

* If you're starting this process on a PC before heading out on your mobile adventure, you'll need to make the key visible and WRITE IT DOWN or TYPE IT into a note on your device in case you need to enter it later while you're out.

Step 2:

Start a #gathering in a group on Minds mobile app

* press the camera button in the header of the group

Step 3:

Set up your gathering options

* press the menu button once the gathering has started

** toggle camera to front or back as desired

*** press Start live stream

Step 3 *

Step 3 **, ***

There are other options on this menu you may wish to adjust like adding a meeting password to exclude (or limit the number of) gathering participants. Keep in mind that the gathering screen will switch to whomever is speaking at the time which will show up on your live stream.

Step 4:

Key in your YouTube stream key

* enter the key exactly as it was shown in YouTube Studio and press Ok when finished

Step 4

Step 5:

Go Live!

* Once the connection appears in YouTube Studio, click on Go Live to start your mobile live stream!

Step 5

If/when your gathering drops you can repeat steps 3 & 4 to resume the live stream if you wish. Once you're back on YouTube Studio you must click End Stream to finalize the stream. If you left the DVR option on, YouTube should cut out any parts of the recording that were blank if you resumed mid-stream.

I know this is a sort of half-assed way to accomplish this work around and may create some limitations vis-a-vis how far you can travel while live streaming on the go. Though you could theoretically accomplish this using a wifi hot spot and a laptop to handle the YouTube Studio end, I've never tried it.

Tell me in the comments if you try this for yourself and drop a link to any successful YT quasi-mobile live streams you make! If you can think of a better way to get around YT's mobile live stream gate keeping, tell me about that too!

Until next time, I've been yuh boi...
