Politics (or the Lack of It)...

Reading through some of the responses to my Reminds (unfortunately little of what I post here is actually original, for which I apologise), I get the impression sometimes that people are not too sure about my politics, so let me state it here and now: I despise politics. I used to be a Conservative voter back in Blighty (largely because of the constant threat of a Labour party led at the time by would-be nuclear disarmer Michael Foot), but eventually gave up as nothing ever really seemed to improve, and a kind of apathy set in, in which I started to regard myself as something of an anarchist (meaning, in practical terms, that there was little point in voting for political parties who had absolutely nothing in common with me as an individual) and I started to approach the kind of "I Am My Own Government" point of view expressed more latterly by Mark Passio. Politics was irrelevant.

From a lot of the stuff I Remind, you might also think that I am a Trump supporter. Not true. The fact is that I am merely an amused bystander, although I would say that I was glad that Donnie Boy got in, if only to stop the insane War Witch Hillary from becoming the first female US President - she who was (or appeared to be) openly promoting the idea of a hot war with Russia. I cannot say how amazed I am to discover not only that she is still alive, but still has a misguided expectation of becoming President. She clearly didn't learn anything in 2016.

Probably because I am English (I refuse to use the term "British", it does not describe me or anything about me; it's just a way to blur national boundaries between the original member states of what is now the British Isles and make people easier to manipulate), I have never understood why Americans would have anything against Donald Trump. He has business interests, he makes deals and he has employed many people; he also seems to have helped people in other ways. If I were an American and saw the 2016 voting choice, I would almost certainly have voted for him. He has a strange appeal because he is not part of the disgusting American body politic and there also seem to be an awful lot of things happening recently (paedophile arrests, anyone?) which someone like myself would have no doubt whatever were purely good. This affectation, however, would not be permanent; I had already become something of a "tactical voter" back in the UK before finally leaving.

I found myself originally walking away from what I saw as the unproductive waste of English politics, and as the years went by, I noticed other people doing similar things for similar reasons, and I praise them for breaking out of their boxes. Nobody in British politics really spoke the language that was developing in my mind to describe my attitude towards my personal situation and the things I found affecting it, so I voted with my feet.

One surprise for me is that having just reached the grand old age of 57 (a bout of cancer a couple of years ago notwithstanding), I also find myself in opposition to the idea of abortion whereas in earlier days I might have supported it; I'm not sure whether it was the sudden realisation of the horrific scale of it all or the logical inconsistency of it when laid alongside other fatal enterprises such as war (in other words, either murder is a crime or it is not; can there be a position in between?), but my opinion there seems to have shifted... or was it because I discovered MGTOW a couple of years ago, and have come to despise the modern young female and her diabolical sense of entitlement? Do I despise more those who voted in the politicians who created the situation, incrementally, law by law until we arrived at a situation where more and more men seem to be just walking away and realising that they suddenly have both more money and more fulfilment? Have I suddenly discovered a greater respect for those who are now veterans and become disgusted that what they fought for has turned into a pointless waste? The list goes on and on; and this situation is the result of giving interested parties freedom to create the laws that their patrons want, rather than what their electors want. There is a lesson here that we must learn before it is too late.

Speaking of late... sleep beckons and I have to hit the sack again soon, but I wanted to make a statement about this. Politics has no context for me any more, and for ordinary people, it seems to generate only victims of one kind or another. Politicians have nothing to say to someone like myself, and I am sick of their constant cold flannel (as we say in the UK). At the moment I think I am a kind of anarcho-capitalist in my thinking, but I have no doubt that future experiences will change this. This is one of the reasons that I am slowly migrating away from FB and towards the likes of Minds, Gab, MeWe (which is looking good lately), VK and even Diaspora, where I have had a presence for some time now. This is paralleled with my computer experience, having moved away from Redmond to Linux and finding even more freedom. These thoughts have come to me as I wonder what I am going to do after my prolonged experience in South Korea... I'm thinking about it a lot these days.

Let me finish by thanking all of you who have upvoted my Reminds, and commented, and giving me your generous wires; Minds has turned out to be unexpectedly welcoming, and I seem to have gravitated towards other members with similar viewpoints, more so than elsewhere (on Gab, for example). It has truly been a learning experience.
