I know that I often stress that I am alone, and that the human condition is to learn to live with that loneliness. It's something that we all feel, or try to ignore. I'm sure you're familiar with this- it's that self actualizing, soul crushing loneliness. I believe that's why we all are so obsessed with social media, it's something that distracts us from that fact. That's why it is so hard to go 15 minutes without looking at your phone for new notifications. While I feel like I am more aware of the nature of loneliness than most people, I feel like I can deal with it because I also have this cosmic feeling of connection at all times. I feel as if this is another thought that has shaped my mind, and is often a source of comfort during tough times. It's only right I share this with you.

Jung called this "collective consciousness". It's an idea I've subscribed to before I even knew it existed. For those who don't know, this is the idea that all of us unconsciously share a unified brain, almost as if we are all uploading and downloading from a psychic, interconnected network. Think of it as an evolved hive mind.

I know, I know... " Psychic network? Shut up with this hippie dippy bullshit." At face value, it seems like a far fetched, abstract idea. Yet, even on a rational level, it makes sense. The idea is that, as humans, we are all exposed to the same archetypes, which inspire and provoke similar feelings and thoughts. That is why the certain things can become universal symbols, regardless of culture or location. Take the word 'mother', for example. Just speaking that word inspires the thought of a nurturing figure, and unconditional love. Chances are that once you read that word, you thought of those things without my prompt. Now imagine I asked you to draw a moon. If you drew a crescent moon, I would immediately recognize it. There are a handful of symbols that are universally recognizable. I hope that this has given you a vague idea of this concept, if it peaks your interest, but my explanation was not sufficient enough, feel free to read up on it. I want to continue with the point I was trying to make.

For those who know me, you will know that in no way does my definition end at the rational explanation. This concept is fuel for my refusal to believe this world is anything short of magical. I made a promise to myself early on that I would never lose that child-like wonder. The idea that the universe I live in is a mystical wonderland keeps me alive and occupied, even when I'm doing nothing. There are so many questions without answers, too much coincidence and not enough explanations for all of it. Its like a lifelong treasure hunt for knowledge. I know I'm going off on a tangent here , but the point I'm trying to make is that realizing that this collective consciousness is real, makes this world magical for me. I pray you all find your magic in this world too.

Collective consciousness is an idea that I trust in, not only because I enjoy the concept, but because I have experienced this myself. I can share accounts of times that I knew things without having any previous knowledge about them, or tell you concepts I formed on my own, only to read the same thing in a book, months or years later. I won't bother to bring those things up- all these things are hearsay, I could easily just lie to you in order to defend my own personal agenda. Being a man of science, I want to give you examples that you may test on your own accord.

The basis of this relies on the fact that our consciousness affects and is affected by the other consciousnesses we share this world with. This happens on a global scale, I'm sure, but I've noticed this on a smaller scale as well. After I explain it, I want you to test this theory out yourself, let me know if you feel the same way. I find that my perception shifts, simply by being in a room with someone else. I'll give the example of watching a movie, because it's something we all have done alone, and with people. When I am alone, since I love cinematography and appreciate the art of acting, I tend to pay attention to the way the camera is used and how much emotion I feel from their performances. I found that if I watch a movie with a musician, for some reason I will hear sounds I hadn't previously heard, or I tend to pay attention more to the soundtrack for some reason. I am more captivated by the music than I would be, had I watched this on my own. Now, this is simply a broad generalization in order to get my point across. The main point I am trying to get at, is that our perceptions can shift, simply effected by the company we keep. Another simple example would be if you surround yourself with positivity, you will feel more positive as well. The same goes for surrounding yourself with negativity. This happens without speaking, some call it vibes, I like to contribute this to the idea that we are all connected. The bombshell realization is that our mere existence has an impact on the world around us, and vice versa.

Now, this was not meant to convince you that you have this innate psychic ability, although that is part of my own belief. I simply just want to share my perceptions with everyone, and inject a bit of magic into your daily lives. Louie CK said, "There is a whole universe out there, and your mind goes on inward - INFINITELY." This struck a nerve with me, as I think it should with everyone. We, as humans, are explorers. We want to discover and experience all the world has to offer. This journey, at least for me, is not bound by physical limitations. Much of this life is metaphysical, and since perspective shapes literally EVERYTHING around us, the thoughts that cycle through your minds are what fuels your existence. I just want the people around me to break free of these oppressive routines and boring expectations, and to live a life full of MAGIC. You are more than just a lonely human, you are a ripple in time, a key link in an infinite chain. I know that loneliness is a motherfucker, but no matter how lost and useless you feel - YOU MATTER. None of what I write is meant to sway you, I am not trying to recruit you for my new cult. I just want to awaken people to the fact that YOU ARE A MAJESTIC CREATURE.

The things I write about are the things that help me keep on keepin on. It is my way of trudging through the bouts of depression, the rage towards society, and the emptiness of loneliness. I ask you to test this out in your lives, you don't have to change anything, just shift your perspective. Even if you don't fancy my particular brand of crazy, I want you to find your own. YOU ARE ETHEREAL, YOU ARE A CREATOR (whether you are conscious of it or not), AND YOU ARE PART OF SOMETHING LARGER THAN LIFE ITSELF. No matter how soul crushing your loneliness gets, find comfort in the fact that we all understand it in some way, shape or form. And above all, you are less alone than you believe. You are influential, and should love yourself due to that fact. Now knowing that we are innately influential creatures, this adds an extra layer responsibility. What you convey to the world shapes reality. So what exactly do YOU represent?? The world is full of magic, and whether you choose to realize it or not... it will always be there.
