Closing the border will punish those who follow the law and do little about those who enter the U.S. illegally.
Further, it will damage U.S. businesses, as well as those throughout Mexico and Latin America, which will only make the problem worse. It is likely that many tons of produce needed in the U.S. will simply rot at the side of the highway, affecting supplies and prices in the U.S.
Finally, it will damage Americans abroad by putting them at risk of retribution, creating ill will in their host nations, and restricting their own free travel.
Putting the U.S. on yet worse terms with Mexico and damaging innocent business people is absolutely the wrong way to address U.S. border security.

Both extremes of the spectrum, so certain they are right, listen only to "news" that agrees with their point of view. Unwilling or afraid to admit that the other side might have something meaningful to say, they shout down or shut down anyone who disagrees. If facts don't work, they'll attack the person. Both extremes are living proof of Lenin's famous quote.
