My first week of using Minds has officially ended and the results have been beyond outstanding. As of typing this, my subscriber count is over 750 and my views are near 74,000. The success since joining Minds has been almost overwhelming and with my most liked post at 390+ likes, I've felt great about my reach on this social media platform.
Many have asked me how I've accomplished this, and I would like to share some tips and tricks for using Minds to have the greatest success possible.
Before beginning, I would like to point out to users that may only use the mobile app, that the desktop version is much easier to access things like blogs, groups, your wallet, and the ability to boost posts. Using the desktop is highly recommended as you will need it to boost.
Most people that come to me are usually asking if my technique is simply just sub for sub. While this works and you will create a network of followers, there is more to it than that. Prior to subscribing to other people, you will need to make sure that when those people come back to your channel they find something that will interest them. Use hashtags, meaningful quotes, and things that truly connect with not only how you feel, but how others may feel too. Your profile's about me section should be complete, along with a banner and profile picture. This is very important when beginning to gain your following.
The best practice in deploying the sub for sub strategy is to search for the specific audience you're trying to bring to your page. The utilization of hash tags in your search is extremely important. If you're a gamer like myself, you may go to the channel search and look for anyone that tagged themselves under gaming, gamers, games, or even videogames. This method will help bring a specific type of audience to your page and not fill your Home Feed with things that don't interest you.
Another alternative to going on a subscription rampage apart from hashtags, is to find a specific channel that fits your style. For example, I’m a fan of Joe Rogan and the likelihood of those sharing my interests are much greater.
DON’T BE A BOT!
This is NOT the only method used for gaining subscribers and you should know better!
Here is where using a desktop to access the boost will come in handy for you. When scrolling through Minds, you will occasionally see recommended profiles. These profiles are boosted profiles from other users whom have gone to their profile section on the desktop and selected "Boost" (next to the edit profile button). Minds refers to these as Side Bar Boosts and could help you reach new people provided you've made your about me section interesting!
Every day new channels are starting, and we are seeing more Minds expand their potential 😉.
YOU SHOULD BE A PART OF THAT GROWTH!
Sharing Minds can be difficult and anyone who has listened to the Joe Rogan Podcast with Bill Ottman knows the struggle with Facebook.

So what are the alternatives?...
You may or may not want Mom on your channel, so sending direct is a good discreet way to communicate to others. I suggest creating a message you can copy and paste that is similar to your personality so they know its you, but also gets the point across… “Hey! I just joined this social media site called Minds. It was on Joe Rogan’s podcast when the CEO Bill Ottman was on, I know you love Joe so I figured you might wanna check it out “insert referral link””
If you’re not familiar with it already, Snapchat allows users to add a URL to their Snap. Simply take your selfie, click that paper clip on the top right and paste your referral link. Post to your wall or send to your friends directly in a very simple way that gives a personal touch and lets them know you’re not spamming or hacked.
Simply putting the link in your profile won’t be enough. Use an attractive image that will stop people from scrolling and give your caption a read. This is where you will need to let them know “Link is in profile”.
Twitter is a lot easier for sharing your link but unless you have a strong following the chances are slim for people to want to click a website they aren’t aware of. Engage with people and direct message the link, making it personal will prove you aren’t a bot, and you won’t lose a follower.
Businesses, Marketers, Realtors, etc... are always on the look out for new methods or tactics in building a following. Beyond sharing your link to your wall, engage one on one and explain how Minds works.
Remember, there's is a small percentage of people that will be willing to take the leap unless they hear it from a good source. You could be that source, and if they choose not to join, it's their loss in the long run and you made a great effort. This is the same thing to keep in mind when you use the sub for sub strategy. Not everyone you subscribe to will necessarily like you and you should never let that discourage you from your growth. People have different views and it's important to accept that and not take it personal.
Now that you’re building your subscribers, make sure you engage with your audience! Make to at least post once a day to show you are an active user. Take the time to go to those that follow you back or join Minds through your link and let them know you appreciate them. This will keep them following you!
