It is physically impossible to deradicalize people without communicating with them. The idea that interviewing extremists is promoting or "platforming" them is infuriatingly ignorant. It simultaneously exposes their bad ideas and exposes them to new ones. Most former radicals changed through civil discourse. This period of human history could be viewed as mass mental illness or delusion.
