This was as close as I have ever gotten to a Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus). I took about fifteen minutes to gradually approach this bird, meandering back and forth and 'ignoring' it (no eye contact). The shot was taken with my 55-250 kit lens. This individual and its mate are used to my presence in their territory but even so, it is a very fortunate encounter. The pair usually have about a fifty metre no-go zone for me, but on this day I was allowed to approach this male to within perhaps fifteen metres. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto

Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus). Not a great day for photography due to the overcast, but a nice moment captured with this breeding pair of Rainbow Bee-eaters. The pair will dig a metre-long burrow in the sand to protect the eggs, and both work diligently to incubate and feed their young. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto

Pacific Baza (Aviceda subcristata). It might have been a young bird since it let me get so close. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto
