...y will age verify for FREE. But, as we know, nothing is ever free. The age verification firms will not be doing things at a loss, one presumes they intend to profit. So just because they are free today, once all the sites use them, they could simply say they need to charge. However one must remember that PornHub owns Age ID, and so could they be seeking to gain all the data they can on porn (such as sites people go on, how often, what they look at). A few months ago, one firm on a webmaster forum stated that they may share data. By this, if you use age verification firm X, but your customer to your site has registered to age verification firm Y, then they could still log in. Otherwise people may have to sign up to 5 or more age verification firms (it could be hundreds).. This clearly would mean that the chances of people leaving your site would almost be certain. So we will have to see if these firms will co-operate or not. Who is behind these firms? Should we presume they are all honest? At the end of the day criminals can easily knock up a age verification site/business, and go to all the events and convince everyone they are legit, in order to get millions of peoples ID's. And if things go wrong, who will be responsible? Will it be the age verification firm (who may not be based in the UK, or the government for bringing in this daft law, or BBFC who are supposed to be running things, or will it be the poor porn site who had no option but to use the age verification firm?
