Thought I might share one of the latest images I took. These are neurons infected with a viruses that induces expression of fluorescent proteins. Before a neuron fires an impulse, neurons are purple. Right after they fire an impulse, they churn out the green fluorescent protein you can see - so, using this virus, we can tell which neurons have been activated by anything from a drug to a sound. #brain #science #drugs #neuroscience
