Today is Washington's Birthday according to its official United States government name. It's Presidents' Day according to the state government names in 26 states and the popular retail name. Other states have other variations of the name. Well, I wish that you remember the contributions of George Washington and the likelihood that we would be less free if it wasn't for President Washington's struggle for liberty. You could also celebrate Abraham Lincoln's contribution to our country if you like. Presidents' Day doesn't ever fall on Washington's real birthday which is February 22. I remember as a little boy observing Washington's Birthday on February 22 back when there was a legal federal and state observance of that day prior to 1971. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act changed the day to the third Monday in February.
