I started The Vinyl Collector to find music I have never heard of before. This page has introduced me to a ton of new bands, some great records and some awesome people! The Mr. T Experience (sometimes abbreviated MTX) is an American punk rock band formed in 1985 in Berkeley, California. They have released eleven full-length albums along with numerous EPs and singles and have toured internationally. Their music is best classified as pop punk and is intentionally playful, comical, and satirical, often dealing with issues of love and relationships. The band's name is taken from actor and television personality Mr. T. The Mr. T Experience serves mainly as the creative outlet for singer/guitarist "Dr. Frank" Portman @frankportman, its primary songwriter and sole continuous member throughout multiple lineup changes. The band is closely associated with the Berkeley and greater San Francisco Bay Area punk rock movement of the late 1980s and the 1990s, revolving around the 924 Gilman Street venue and the Lookout! Records label, through which they have released all of their albums since 1990. Dr. Frank was one of the first people to start posting in the Vinyl Collector and I really enjoy his writing and music. Today the mail man delivered my first and not last MTX record. MTX's first album in 12 years, titled "King Dork Approximately the Album. This does not mean the Dr. has not been busy in those years. He has taken his song writing talents and moved them into writing books. As far as I know there are 3 novels under his name. Andromeda Klein, King Dork, and King Dork Approximately. I don't think I have ever seen a record and novel combo before. Very cool idea! This record rocks plain and simple. I have listened to it a number of times on you tube but today I am going to give it the proper treatment as it hits my turntable! This copy is the 2017 gold vinyl edition. Signed by the band!! https://www.discogs.com/Mtx-King-Dork-ApproximatelyAlbum/release/10824099 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBIWe6arK4E&list=PLipc_noL4xpLtjg22HilvCxuNamrBkBLb #mtxforever #vinylcollector Special thanks to @frankportman and soundsradical.com!

Every so often I get a new record that rips my head off. Today is one of those days! My brother gave this record to me for an early Christmas present. Holy crap it rips. Dust was formed in 1969 by Richie Wise and two teenagers, Kenny Aaronson and Marc Bell. The trio's producer and manager, Kenny Kerner, also wrote the group's lyrics. Their eponymous debut album was released on Kama Sutra Records in 1971, followed by a sophomore release, Hard Attack, issued on the same label the following year. Although Wise began writing material for a third album, the band dissolved due to lack of promotion and Wise's interest in producing. While the group only released these two albums, they later became of historical interest to collectors of early American heavy metal. Both albums were reissued on April 16, 2013, as a combined CD set titled Hard Attack / Dust (Legacy Recordings), as well as on vinyl on April 20 for Record Store Day. Guess who Marc Bell is? Marc Steven Bell (born July 15, 1952) is an American musician best known by his stage name Marky Ramone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_-CGUxRAyQ Guess who Richie Wise and Kenny Kerner are? Kenny Kerner, the producer who acted as an early advocate for Kiss and co-produced the band's first two albums with his production partner Richie Wise Listen to this!
