My Work (Tool) Bench Project So, here is my next week project. I have this circular saw and a vise. I was using my drafting design table to saw some wood in various projects. This table was used, probably by an animated designer, that used to work for Lucas Film before all the animations migrated to computers. It is quite possible that this drafting table was used to draw some "Star Wars" episodes. Anyway, getting to the point, I was using this table for the circular saw but she is not very strong and the desire rose to have a proper workbench to house the circular saw and the vise. Therefore, here is the idea: In my particular case, I want the base of the saw to align with the vise so I can use it to secure the wood I am cutting. As you can see by the rough mockup, I do not want any crossbars towards my direction so I can put my foot on the ground under the table. In addition, this will not go to be actually a real working bench but more like a tool bench. The bench will have no surface on top so the sawdust will fall in down as I am working. My idea is also making the bench with screws where I can disassemble if I ever need to transport to another location. All the parts could be fit in the trunk of a car. I got some measurements but they are not definitive yet. I am still thinking about the fit. Detail: This is not going to be any fancy bench. For me, it just needs to be functional. Here is the wood. Now let's get to work! I will start Monday! I am not in a rush, so I will take my time and post the phases and issue that might arise from the work in progress. Thanks for your patience!
