Ornate Burrowing Frog (Opisthodon ornatus). At first glance I thought this critter was a baby Cane Toad, as we get gazillions of them around this time of year (early Summer). But on closer inspection I was sure it was a frog and not a toad. A quick search of local frog species online helped me to identify this individual as an adult Ornate Burrowing Frog.

Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus). Not a great day for photography due to the overcast, but a nice moment captured with this breeding pair of Rainbow Bee-eaters. The pair will dig a metre-long burrow in the sand to protect the eggs, and both work diligently to incubate and feed their young. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto

Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus leucocephalus). #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto

A pair of Scaly-breasted Lorikeets (Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus) checking out tree hollows for nesting. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto
