Advice from 80-year-old me
I use to think, what if I could talk to younger me?
When I was a boy, or in my 30s?
I would say to me
Learn more, study harder, do your homework
Don’t be so materialist
Be more patient, more tolerant, more willing to open up
Share your feeling and thoughts, your fears and passions with the ones you love and that love you.
It’s ok to say you don’t understand, to say you are afraid, to say you don’t know, to ask for help
But, I can’t do that
What if older, 80-year old me, could speak?
What would he say?
I’d image he would tell me how great thing are
The World is still a wonderful place despite your concerns in 2016
But, he’d say, you’ve been resting on your laurels, you’re still young and you have a lot ahead of you
It good that you have tried to push your kids to be better
What are you doing to be better, to be great?
That bucket list you started a few months ago, finish it and do it
Be bold with it, so what if you don’t succeed with all of it.
And not just a “to do” bucket list, but a “to be” bucket list as well.
Share it and put it out to the world, you know now how powerful that is
Put yourself out to the world
Share what you know with younger people
Get that idea notebook out of your desk and start filling it up
Share your ideas, work to make them happen
What are you waiting for…
