Shantin practicing with his revolver. I don't know why it was the thing back then (late 19th to early 20th century) to fire pistols one-handed all the time. It looks to have been standard technique, but it seems silly nowadays to have practiced like that only. Of course, many behaviors were quite different with respect to how firearms were handled back then. They didn't really have the concept of weapons safety as we do today either.
