I'VE BEEN STUDYING SYRIAN, COPTIC, MIDDLE EASTERN, AND ASIAN CHRISTIANITY FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS NOW (still do) Whereas I would disagree at certain points here this is important to know and I completely agree about understanding Middle Eastern and Asian Christianity. I’d also add African Christianity. One of my dissertations in college was over the fact that the Earliest Missionary efforts of Buddhism were to the West (it failed), not towards China, and the first Christian Missionary efforts were East, Turkey, and beyond, and into Africa, not to the West. That succeeded, and for a long while, but Orthodoxy versus Heresy eventually led to splitting Christendom into two or three (West, Africa, Eastern) and then again between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, and then again between Catholicism and Protestantism. In many ways organized Christianity is its own worst enemy. I am a Christian by the way, but not because of Organized, religious Christianity, but because of Christ and because of a far more Ancient Christianity. In many ways I am an Eastern and African Heretic and anti-organized Christianity. I am not anti-Chruch, I like the Ekklesia, just not a fan of what it tends to eventually become if left to its own devices. #Christianity #Islam #Middle East #Asia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzJojqPy7NQ
