Completely unrelated: Playing Phasmo last night... >ask spirit box, "are you here?" >it immediately answers: "close" >then immediately: "behind" >then immediately: "DIE." And the hunt begins and I get shanked by whatever it was lmfao. She was an eager ghost, though... I'll give her that... #games #ghosts #spoopy

Okay, I'm actually super disturbed by this book... Kelly is an empath. She was hired by this merc organization to basically be a medical emotion person, a little deeper than a therapist since she can directly connect with someone else's emotions. She is using this ability to manipulate and emotionally abuse her girlfriend and I'm waiting to see if this is portrayed as damaging or bad in the end, but I have a feeling it won't be. The example is this: >Vick doesn't want to share something >Kelly gets mad, "Don't keep secrets from me, Vick." >"I'm not." >Kelly touches Vick to intensify their emotional connection and so she can even clearer read Vick's lies. "Don't lie to me, Vick." >"I'm not lying." >Just this one line makes Kelly lose it. She's crying, yelling at Vick, "If you loved me, you'd tell me everything and you wouldn't hide things from me! Don't even think about talking to me again unless you're going to share your secrets!" And then she storms upstairs. >Vick feels like a piece of shit and as if she's the problem here. >Kelly, reflecting on this in the morning has the epiphany, "oh, wait. I was probably talking to the robot part of Vick's brain, so no wonder yelling didn't work to extract the information I wanted from her." >Vick internal monologue: "I'm not good enough for Kelly and all I do is cause her pain." I'm not saying this is unrealistic by any means. I'm saying this is an unhealthy, abusive, and manipulative relationship and I'm waiting to see if that shows in the conclusion of this book or if this is supposed to be romantic. #amreading #patchwork #ElleEIre #writingcommunity
