While I'm not really a weeb, it's heartening to see that "get woke, go broke" is a real thing in the comic books industry. It doesn't matter if Kimetsu no Yaiba outsold the entire American comics industry (some put the figure at 150 million to 15 million copies sold), the sheer scale at which manga is trouncing American comics is hilarious. In 2020, the top 20 graphic novels in sales were all manga. The fundamental difference in the two industries is American comic books are authored by people who were (and aren't) fans of the comics or the characters. They don't want to tell good stories, they want to preach at you. And here's the thing: for all their grandstanding, leftists simply don't like comics, so even their intended audience isn't paying attention.
