I petted a rattle snake today. Was out at a natural area where people do shooting practice a lot. I was gathering empty shells. I brushed my hand through some tall grass and rubbed a scaly creature. It tightened up, I jumped back, I heard it rattle. I think I woke it up or something. I was lucky I surprised it and had time to jump away.
