Popcorn Beach, " Playa del Bajonde la Burra"

Located on the Canary Islands and originally named Playa del Bajonde la Burra, this beach looks like it is covered with popcorn. The coral that make up this image are rhodoliths, a red algae. Rhodolites are colorful just like corals when alive, but after death, they turn white due to the calcium carbonate they contain. This is also seen in other beaches in the Canary Islands.
