On the Coffee Table: Pastel

Since we started with a sweet candy, let's shift to what probably is the most traditional Brazilian street food ever. In the third world, you don't waste your leftovers, no matter what. That's essentially the idea of this deep fried pastry: pick pretty much any leftovers you have on your fridge or pantry - either salty or sweet - and use it as filling. Since the dough can be frozen in a ready-to-fry state and it has essentially any filling options you want, these are consumed at bars, coffee shops and also at home, either as snacks or as a quick meal - check out the recipes in the links below (and again, no weird ingredients): [EASY MODE] using wonton bread/wrappers so you don't need to make the dough yourself: https://youtu.be/qhsZCKZR5-4 [HARD MODE] making the dough yourself: https://youtu.be/ng-DHpZ4ywQ SAFETY FIRST: I would recommend that extra watery / juicy fillings should be avoided because of potential oil splashing / spilling during the deep fry. Also, beware of the first bite: hot air might build up inside the pastel, don't burn your lips! #onthecoffeetable
