馃槉 some more of my son's work. I love that we're both needle artists, just with different types of needles.

So I've been watching the twitter battle against James Lindsay. I'd put this on Twitter but I hate 50 tweet threads so I'm putting it here. They seem to be upset that he's given up on civil discourse and has devolved into mocking. They also seem to be more concerned about appearances and their reputations than about actually facilitating any change. They seem to be spineless cowards terrified of being cancelled, if I'm being perfectly honest. Helen Pluckrose, Cathy Young and Claire Lehman specifically, but there have been others. They're transparent in their criticisms. I think his open support of Trump was their breaking point, because while they hate Critical Theory, they're still lefties and could not fathom supporting Trump, and would not see his reasoning that Biden would be more devastating in bringing about more of the insanity. That the insane left's ideas need to be destroyed before the sane left can regain any semblance of credibility. Civil discourse works when you're arguing against people who are rational and reasonable. The people he's arguing against are neither rational nor reasonable. You have people - not nobodies mind you, but people with political influence - advocating for truth and reconciliation commissions. You have people comparing January 6th to 9/11. You have people comparing Trump supporters to ISIS. NONE of that is reasonable or rational. The people turning their backs on James still seem to think it's possible to reason with a Robert Reich, or a Robin D'Angelo. It's not. They need to be shown to be lunatics - because they are. Their ideas are stupid and dangerous and need to be ridiculed as such. I see James as someone who is at his wits end. He's tried reasonable and rational, it didn't work. He's trying a different approach. And that's all I have to say about that.
