Miss Pepper was a diligent garden helper as usual, and I feel like we got a lot accomplished today. In addition to the outside and inside cleanup of the poly tunnel, Pepper’s indoor studio apartment got a good cleaning and fresh bedding, and the big girls’ chicken coop also got cleaned out today. The last thing on our to do list today is a much needed bath for Pepper, because her booty is starting to look a little crusty again.

The “Black Prince” snapdragons that I planted last year took forever to get going, and I actually only got a few blooms out of them. (So I started them a few weeks earlier this year). But they kept this beautiful purple foliage throughout the winter, so I’m planning to plant the new ones in the same bed a little more densely, interspersed with these established ones. I just moved the seed flat that I started on February 3rd out to the greenhouse and I’m inclined to use the packet up and get even more going. Another round of snapdragons? Still a little bit earlier than last year? 🤔 Why the hell not....

These are the “Black Prince” snapdragons that I sowed on February 3rd, they are just starting to get a purple tinge to their itty bitty leaves, and I moved these out to the greenhouse today. These are cold tolerant as well, the ones I planted last year kept all their foliage throughout the winter, so I’m planting even more of these this year.

I finally finished decluttering the inside of the greenhouse as well today. This space now “sparks joy”. I’m actually going to enjoy puttering around in here now, or just sitting in here on a rainy day with a cup of tea listening to the raindrops. 🌱
